Since our foundation, we have been a cutting-edge fashion school, constantly and rapidly expanding. The world of Fashion and Luxury never stops changing, and we are with it.
We always aim for the next milestone, the one no one has reached yet: that is where we want to take our students so that they can actively contribute to the innovation and success of the Brands from the first day they join.
The National Chamber for Italian Fashion (Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana) is the non profit Association that regulates, coordinates and promotes the development of Italian fashion. It represents the highest cultural values of Italian fashion and has a mission to protect, coordinate and enhance its image both in Italy and internationally. The Association is the point of reference and preferential mouthpiece for all national and international initiatives to enhance the value and promote Italian style, customs and fashion.
2007
MFI was founded in Milan to create a university centre of excellence at the service of the Fashion System. The city's most prestigious institutions are behind it: the City of Milan, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (the Italian Fashion Council), together with a pool of Milanese Universities.
2009
MFI kicks off its first academic year with a Master in Fashion Direction: Brand and Product Management.
2011
All postgraduate masters courses become international as the Milan fashion scene speaks to the whole world. Our campus immediately welcomes students from all corners of the globe.
2012
Our educational model becomes the subject of study and is presented as excellence in Hong Kong at 'DesignEd Asia 2012', the international benchmark event for teachers, researchers, and trend analysts organized by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Design.
2015
The 'Short Courses' and 'Executive Programs' divisions are launched to meet the needs of the Fashion and Luxury Brand world.
In the same year, the Unit for the support of international cooperation projects is created: the training and research center works in partnership with government agencies, ministries and governments, with ad-hoc programs for the support of the fashion systems all over the world.
2019
The first international partnerships are created with the most qualified universities in the world: The Fashion Institute of Technology – State University of New York and the Mackenzie University, Sao Paulo, Brazil, become partners of MFI.
2020
Thanks to the extraordinary results achieved in just a few years, MFI becomes a proactive and educational partner of Camera della Moda Italiana. The first university master's diploma in Brand & Sustainability Management is launched, unique at a global level.
2022
Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana officially joins MFI, taking part as well of the Scientific Board.
In the same year, MFI becomes Official Member of the Advisory Committee of the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards, reserved to the most important international institutions and non-profit organizations.
2023
Once again, MFI is leading the way in innovating fashion education. The first multi-disciplinary Master in Fashion Direction: Fashion Design & Management is activated, the first globally to train Specialist Fashion Designers for the Ready-to-Wear. The National Chamber of Italian Fashion acquires full governance of the Consortium. Carlo Capasa becomes the president of Milano Fashion Institute.
